Richard House's law practice has recently included the representation of a Louisiana state governmental agency. During the past year, he has also represented private clients in mineral law matters, coastal preservation and restoration issues, medical supply and distribution contracts, asset sales, public and private finance matters and proceedings before the Louisiana State Board of Ethics. He has continued to represent clients in lawsuits and settlements of OPA claims arising from the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill as well as the pursuit of claims in the DWH Settlement Process. In the area of real estate acquisition, he has negotiated ground leases and operational supply agreements for production facilities. He has also engaged in the development of new business ventures in Louisiana, including organizational and operational structure and corporate governance.

graduated from Louisiana State University (B.A. in History) and LSU Law School where he was Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review and member of the Order of the Coif.

From 1975 to 2001, he practiced law in New Orleans and represented clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters in both Federal and State Court proceedings as well as both domestic and international arbitration proceedings.

He has been a member of the Bar in the State of Louisiana since 1975 and Texas since 1993. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.

From 2001 until 2007, he was the Executive Counsel of the Louisiana Department of Economic Development. In that position, he negotiated Cooperative Endeavor Agreements, authored legislation and other initiatives for the development of angel investor and other startup business funding and key legislative initiatives for worker training and technical and community colleges.

He was named 2002 State Executive of the Year by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and Metro Vision.

From August 2007 through October 2012, he was the Senior Vice-President, Government Relations & General Counsel of the New Orleans Hornets NBA Basketball team. In that position, he was responsible for the legal representation of the Team in all aspects of its business including front office and player contracts, employment, NBA operations and rules, financing, operations, facility use, sponsorships and premium seating. He was counsel to the team during two transfers of ownership.

During his time with the State and the Hornets, he also confronted organizational crises and provided knowledge, investigative and media relations experience to get to the truth and manage the best interests of the organization throughout the crisis.
